Italians set the tone at Lake Kaltern

The 34th edition of the Lake Kaltern Triathlon is history and with it the South Tyrolean state championship.

Numerous exceptional triathletes once again offered top-class sport on Lake Kaltern on Saturday. Also from a local perspective, because the competition also counted as a national triathlon championship.

The new South Tyrolean champions are Lea Strobl, who came sixth overall, and Sebastian Weissteiner (both SSV Brixen) in tenth place. Iris Reif, who was also convincing, came in eighth place, Lena Göller (both Kaltern Triathlon) had to give up with cramps.

The men's victory went to the Italian Stefano Micotti (Verbania), who crossed the finish line after 1:53.50 hours. On the running track the decision was in his favor. The German David Breinlinger (+ 13 seconds) took second place, the other Italian Michelangelo Parmigiani came third.

In the women's race, Azzurra Luisa Iogna-Prat won the race after 2:08.00 hours. She won by two and a half minutes ahead of her compatriot Alessia Orla. Both of them were already heading off into the water. Third place went to the Hungarian Fruzsina Kovacs. Top favorite Federica Frigerio did not start at short notice.
