South Tyrol's triathletes shine at the Italian championships

The junior women gave the starting signal for the Italian Championships. Already in the first transition zone, a leadership group of five athletes emerged. Angelica Prestia and Paola Sacchi (both Raschiani Tri Pavese), who were in the lead, later claimed victory among themselves. Prestia won by a minute over Sacchi, with Letizia Martinelli completing the podium. Lea Strobl (Brixen Swimming Club) fought her way to 14th place, Iris Reif (KSV Triathlon) took 23rd place.

Shortly afterwards, the juniors also started the competition weekend. There, Sebastian Weissteiner (Brixen Swimming Club), a South Tyrolean, was able to stay in the fight for the top places for a long time. Weissteiner left the water in second place behind Francesco Gazzina (Minerva Roma). On the 20 kilometer long cycling section, the duo was able to gain a lead of over 20 seconds.

However, the race was decided after the second transition zone, when the athletes still had five kilometers to run. Gazzina had to serve a penalty for an offense in the transition area, but Weissteiner was caught after his strong performance. Davide Menichelli (Doria Nuoto), Daniele Gambitta (Magma Team) and Alberto Demarchi (Cuneo 1189) ultimately took the lead. Sebastian Weissteiner ended up in 9th place. South Tyrolean podiums in the youth categories There were also some participants from South Tyrol in the youth categories. Lena Goller (KSV Triathlon, 14th), Dorfmann Victoria (Brixen Swimming Club, 32nd) and Anna Charlotte Solly (LC Bozen, 42nd) took part in the Youth B girls. There was even reason to celebrate in the boys' ranks: Euan De Nigro (Brixen Swimming Club) was able to secure third place just ahead of his other competitors.

In Youth A, Pia Fischer (Brixen Swimming Club) provided another highlight at the Italian Championships. After leaving the water in fifth place, she was able to establish herself at the front and ultimately take third place. Just three seconds behind, Sophia Lintner (LC Bozen) crossed the finish line in fifth place. Marion Oberhofer (3th), Dena Bacher (8st) and Isla De Nigro (21nd, all Brixen Swimming Club) also achieved good placings. Liselotte Koler (52th) and Matilde Felis (40th) started the race for LC Bozen.

The boys also showed fighting spirit in Youth A. Philipp Lintner (9th), Francesco Favari (83rd) and Igor Danzi (127th) represented the LC Bozen, the Brixen swimming club was represented by Hannes Lanzinger (21st) and David Zingerle (40th). Brixen relay podium at the end In the relay, the Brixen swimming club made it onto the podium in the youth category. Fischer, Lanzinger, Oberhofer and De Nigro fought for second place. The LC Bozen relay team – consisting of Koler, Frasnelli, Lintner and Tiefenbrunner – achieved eleventh place. In the junior group, the people from Brixen (Dorfmann, Lanzinger, Strobl, Weissteiner) took 6th place.

South Tyrol's triathletes shine at the Italian championships

At the weekend the Italian Triathlon Championships took place in Lovadina di Spresiano. As usual, numerous young South Tyrolean triathletes took part this time. After the individual competitions on Saturday, the relay competitions on Sunday provided the culmination of the weekend.
