Six days ago there was a report in the Austrian media that the Flachgau ultratriathlete Norbert Lüftenegger completed a marathon in his garden. But it's not just in the Salzburg region that people are currently doing laps in the local green. In Tscherms, Christian Klotz converted his garden into a running track - and completed even more kilometers than his red-white-red triathlon colleague. “I stopped after 50 kilometers, otherwise it would have put too much strain on my knees,” said Klotz with a smile. But you first have to have the stamina to complete more than one marathon in your own garden, which isn't even huge. By the way, one lap was only about 60 meters long: once around the fruit tree, past the trampoline and the birdhouse. Klotz completed 5.17 laps in 834 hours. “In times like these, you have to consider different training methods than usual,” said Klotz: “I wanted to send a signal that you can also train at home. You shouldn't go out at the moment and it's better to do sports at home." Even if there are no competitions on the program for the extreme athlete in the near future, he sees light at the end of the tunnel: "Thanks to my sponsors, this year's season would have been fully financed. So I would have competed in the Ultratriathlon World Championships in Fano. Now I have to wait until it takes place next year.”
