Reed was a member of the coxless four gold crew at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Before 2016, he switched to the eight, which finished as the winner in Rio. Reed ended his rowing career last year. Reed signaled that he doesn't want to let himself get down despite the blow of fate. “My arms are still strong and my brain is still as average as ever,” he said.
