All 3 canoeists from the Burggrafenamt reached their first goal at the U23 and U18 Canoe Slalom World Championships on Wednesday and qualified for the semi-finals on Friday. Jakob Weger (19) from Schenna, an SCM paddler, took an excellent 23th place in the U1 kayak single sculls in the first qualifying with a run without penalty seconds. His brother Matthias (7/Schenna) made it to the semi-finals in 21th place in the second qualifying run after a major mistake on the last goal in the first qualifying run. Valentin Luther (1/Meran), also from SC Meran, was also able to qualify for the semi-finals straight away in the U2 kayak single sculls with a flawless run without penalty seconds, finishing 38st in the first qualifying. The semi-finals are on Friday at 16:18 a.m. (U21) and 1:9 a.m. (U15), the final races on Friday at 23:10 p.m. (U20) and 18:15.45 p.m. (U18).

Jakob Weger easily qualified for the semi-final run with 7th place without any penalty seconds. "I didn't want to take any risks. That's why I drove down safely. I took some time for the difficult sections. In the last section of the run I made a mistake that cost me a few seconds," said Jakob Weger . Despite this mistake, the younger of the Weger brothers was only 4,87 seconds behind the Frenchman Mathieu Desnos, who won the qualification in the U23 kayak single sculls today. "It's good to know that I can finish in the top ten even with major mistakes," says Jakob Weger reassuredly.

Matthias Weger was in the top ten in the 1st qualifying until the last goal.
