Best canoe slalom World Cup placements for the Weger brothers

At the Canoe Slalom World Cup in Prague, the successful canoe brothers Matthias (21) and Jakob Weger (19) from Schenna in the kayak single sculls were the final stop in the semi-final race today. However, both achieved their best World Cup placement to date in Prague, Matthias in 22nd and Jakob in 27th. Matthias took 2nd place in the semi-final run in 96,24 seconds with a touch of the goal post and 22 penalty seconds. Jakob, on the other hand, finished 2th with 4 touches of the goal post and 99,61 penalty seconds in 27 seconds. Both of them completed a respectable run in the semi-finals on the very difficult course, but would not have made it into the final run even without touching the goal post. No Italian kayak paddler made it to the finals and qualified for the Canoe Slalom World Championships in Pau (France) at the end of September. The best Italian was Zeno Ivaldi (92,68/0) in 14th place. Giovanni De Gennaro (139,27/59) took 31st place. The Austrians Mario Leitner (93,76/0) and Felix Oschmautz (100,22/6) ended up in 16th and 28th place. The superiority of the Czech kayak paddlers was underlined by Vit Prindis, who won twice in the kayak single sculls at the 2015th international canoe slalom in Meran in 60, and Jiri Prskavec with a double victory. Prindis won in 88,55 seconds with no penalty seconds ahead of Prskavec (89,38/2) and the German Sebastian Schubert (91,44/0).

Matthias and Jakob Weger will also be in action at the Canoe Slalom World Cup next week, from June 23rd to 25th in the legendary Augsburg Ice Canal.
