Carolin Schaller is aiming for a place in the top 5

7 slalom canoeists from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler will be in action at 3 canoe slalom events in Ivrea (Piedmont) from Saturday. An international canoe slalom will take place there tomorrow and Sunday, and the general class canoe slalom Italian championship will take place there on Monday. The SCM canoeists are led by Carolin Schaller (25) from Augsburg, who has been registered for SC Meran since 2021. The 4th and final qualification for the Italian national team as well as the U23 and U18 World Championships and European Championships in canoe slalom are on the program in Ivrea on Saturday at the international canoe slalom. Tomorrow there will be a canoe slalom with two runs, and on Sunday there will be a slalom with a qualification and a final. On Monday, at the end of the 2 canoe slalom events in Ivrea, the 3 canoe slalom Italian champions of the general class will be crowned. The fastest of two runs counts for qualification on Saturday at the international canoe slalom. Carolin Schaller is aiming for a place in the top 2 in the kayak single sculls after finishing 6th, 11th and 3rd in order to qualify for the B national team and possibly compete in a World Cup. Tamara Drescher (6) has so far taken 19th, 23th and 23th place in the qualification for the U4 World Championships and the U5 European Championships in the canoe slalom. The first 5 qualify for the U3 World Championships and U23 European Championships in the kayak single sculls: “The route in Ivrea is very difficult. Therefore the qualification has not yet been decided. With a top performance, I can still get into the top 23 in qualifying,” believes Tamara Drescher. Also in action tomorrow and Sunday in the kayak singles are Annika Senoner, David Drescher, Liam Kaplan, Magnus Mumelter and Stefan Senoner, all 3 from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler. On Monday, all 7 slalom canoeists from SC Meran will also take part in the general class canoe slalom Italian championship. SC Meran can field two teams in the team races, one in the women's kayak single sculls and one in the men's kayak single sculls. Carolin Schaller is aiming for a place in the top 2 in the women's kayak single sculls. Tamara Drescher competes in both the canoe slalom Italian championship and the cross Italian championship in the kayak single sculls.
