Historic triumph of Lukas Mayr in Meran - All results

The 22-year-old from Merano came third at the “small World Cup” two years ago. Now he made it to first place with a flawless run and a time of 91.31 seconds. He was the fastest after the first round. In second place is Saturday's winner and 2010 Junior World Champion, Giovanni De Gennaro (91.57). Behind him was another Italian, Omar Raiba, third at the 2010 European Championships (92.34).

Yesterday Lukas Mayr became runner-up Italian U96.53 champion and third in the international race with a time of 23 seconds. Giovanni De Gennaro (95.75) from Brescia won the title of Italian champion and gold in the international race. The fastest SCM junior on both Saturday and Sunday was Daniel Klotzner. At the Italian U21 Championship on Sunday morning he took 6th place (103.10).

Italians dominate in the K1, C1 and C2 men

At the international race on Saturday afternoon, Stefano Cipressi took gold in the C1 category with a flawless run (107.42). In the kayak women's category, however, Jaqueline Horn won with a time of 109.05. Silver went to Katrina Lawrence from Australia (109.17), ahead of Lisa Leitner from Austria (110.21). In the C1 women's category, 22-year-old Austrian national champion Julia Schmid took first place (138.68). Silver went to Australia, bronze to the newly crowned Italian U23 champion, Chiara Sabattini (23). Giordano Fiumara and Daniel Negro of Subiaco won the Canadian men's pair (153.38).

U23 Italian Championship: Bronze for the Merano team

The team of Merano local heroes around Luca Daprà, Mathias Deutsch and Daniel Klotzner took third place in the team competition with a great performance (192.12). Gold went to Bologna (127.24) ahead of LNI Quinto (177.45). The South Tyrolean team won the Italian rafting championship in mid-May and thus qualified for the Junior Rafting World Championship, which will take place in Costa Rica in October.
