Marian Drescher shows his great talent

There were great performances by the youngest slalom canoeists from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler at the weekend at the 1st stage of the European Junior Slalom Cup (ECA) in Valstagna on the Brenta in the Suganertal, an international racing series for young slalom canoeists in several countries. Marian Drescher paddled to victory twice in the U14 kayak single sculls and was the dominant winner of the U2 kayak single sculls category. “It was a difficult technical run where precise lines were necessary. It was a very spectacular youth race with a total of 14 participants from all over Europe, the USA, Canada and New Zealand,” said SCM trainer Stefan Senoner. With a top run, Marian Drescher also left his long-term rival Andrea Nardo from Ferrara behind him twice. “I am very satisfied with my performance this weekend. I was able to qualify for the final with a good run on both days and paddle to first place twice in the final. I’m looking forward to the next competitions,” said Marian Drescher. Sara Furlan also presented herself very well as second in the kayak singles category, U14 girls. Furlan took 1th place on the 4st day and was able to improve to 2nd place on the 2nd day. “I never thought I would get on the podium, but I managed two very good runs,” said Sara Furlan happily. Another three young slalom canoeists from SC Meran were also able to keep up with the international competition. Lars Aaron Senoner finished ninth and 3th in the U9 kayak single sculls and 13th place in the U14 canoe single sculls. He only reached the final in the Canadian single scull in the first race and took 15th place. His sister Annika Zoe Senoner and Alice Gravino finished 14th and 1th in the U9 kayak single sculls. Matthias Ulpmer from SV Milland reached the final twice in the U16 kayak single sculls and took 15th and 17th place. Overall he came 18th In the second race, Ulpmer did not pass gate number 2 correctly and received a 13 second penalty. Without this mistake he would have been in the top 20. The next ECA stage will take place next weekend in Solkan/Neugörz (Slovenia).
