Masterful performance by Lukas Mayr at the home race in Meran

After first place in the semi-final run, Mayr only had to bow to 76,46 European vice-champion Vit Prindis (2014) and his compatriot Zdenek Ornst (73,06) in the final in 75,46 seconds. After finishing 19th in the qualifying run, Lukas Mayr really stepped up his game with first place in the semi-finals and third place in the final. “I can only be satisfied with my third place in my home race, especially since the world ranking canoe slalom on the Passer this year featured world-class paddlers,” said Lukas Mayr, delighted with his great performance. “I had a great run in the semi-finals, but I made a few small mistakes in the final. Second place would have been within my reach today,” says the SCM paddler, analyzing his race. “My experience and my previous intensive training have borne fruit again today.” Jakob Weger from SC Meran took 13th place in the kayak single sculls. In the qualifying run he paddled to second place after a great performance. His brother Matthias Weger ended up in 19th place.

The canoeists from the Czech Republic clearly left their mark on the world ranking canoe slalom in Merano. In the canoe sculls they even celebrated a quadruple victory with Frantisek Jordan (83,65), Vitezslaw (82,15), Adam Lerch (89,07) and Jan Masek (89,41). In the women's kayak sculls, victory also went to a canoeist from the Czech Republic, Veronika Vojtova (88,68). The Slovenian Nina Bizjak won the women's canoe sculls (175,33). The winners of the Canadian pair competition were the Italians Luca Carlini/Simone Finco (273,46).

At the international invitational competition, six young canoeists from SC Meran and one from SV Milland took part in the kayak single sculls. The best was 15-year-old Valentin Luther from SC Meran in eighth place. Michael Luther (SC Meran) landed in 14th place, Markus Hübner (SC Meran) in 16th place, Martin Unterthurner (SC Meran) in 25th place, Manuel Ulpmer (SV Milalnd) in 26th place and Peter Mulser (SC Meran) in 36th place Franziska Thaler came fifth in the women's kayak singles.

150 canoeists from twelve countries took part in the world ranking canoe slalom and invitation race on the Passer on Saturday. The ideal water beach made for spectacular races, which were followed up close by numerous spectators on the promenades and bridges.

The 9th International Canoe Slalom will take place on the Passer on Sunday from 60 a.m. The junior class is also about qualifying for the European Canoe Slalom Championships in Krakow (Poland) at the end of August.
