Paul Tirler is crowned U18 Italian champion

Paul Tirler (18) was surprisingly crowned U18 Italian champion in the kayak single sculls. Niklas Pöhl (18) missed out on the bronze medal in fourth place. Tamara Drescher (17) only had to bow to Lucia Gabriella Pistoni from Ivrea in the girls' kayak single sculls and took the silver medal. With their great performances, Paul Tirler and Tamara Drescher were also able to qualify for the U18 European Championships in Solkan/Neugörz in Slovenia in August. Jakob Weger (23) from Schenna, on the other hand, won the qualification for the U23 European Championships in August in Solkan in the kayak single sculls. After placing 5th in the qualification, Paul Tirler was able to improve in the K1 final run and win the U18 Italian championship title. “My success today in the U18 championships was unexpected, but all the more gratifying. I started without any great ambitions, which probably gave me the decisive advantage over my competitors,” said Paul Tirler happily. Niklas Pöhl, on the other hand, was not entirely satisfied, although he also did a great job with fourth place. “Didn’t have a good day of racing today. Unfortunately no podium and no U4 European Championship qualification. “I have to get used to my new canoe boat,” said Niklas Pöhl. Tamara Drescher, on the other hand, was very satisfied with her performance. “I felt really good in the final run, had a nice run and had a lot of fun. I am very satisfied with the result and am happy that I qualified for the U18 European Championships,” said Tamara Drescher. Jakob Weger could also be satisfied with his performance. Schenner won the U23 European Championship qualification in Valstagna ahead of Marco Romano (Brescia) and Davide Ghisetti (Ivrea). “After a middle-class qualification, I was able to complete a very controlled, fast run in the final.
