Slalom canoeists are hunting for medals in Hohenlimburg

With the U23 and U18 European Canoe Slalom Championships in Hohenlimburg (Germany), another major canoe slalom event is imminent for Matthias (21) and Jakob Weger (19) from Schenna and Valentin Luther (17) from Merano. The 3 Burggräfler canoeists have been preparing intensively for the title fights on the European Championship course in Hohenlimburg for several days. The artificially created slalom course is located 15 kilometers south of Dortmund on a barrage on the Lenne. The facility consists of an approximately 350 meter long stretch of white water with various rapids and water rollers. It is also often used as a recreational area for rafting, whitewater swimming and even stand-up paddling.

After the rather disappointing performance at the U23 and U18 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bratislava/Pressburg (Slovakia), the three slalom canoeists from the Burggrafenamt have another chance to win a medal at a major canoe slalom event starting on Thursday in Hohenlimburg. Jakob Weger, who was crowned canoe slalom U18 European champion in the kayak single sculls for the second time in Solkan/Neugörz (Slovenia) last year, is competing in the U23 European Championships for the first time in Hohenlimburg. Valentin Luther as Jakob Weger, a paddler from SC Meran/Torggler, is taking part in the Canoe Salom U18 European Championships for the second time. Matthias Weger, on the other hand, is starting again for the Austrian Canoe Association.

The qualifying runs will take place in both age groups on Thursday. The first 30 will advance to the semi-finals in the kayak single sculls. The semi-finals and finals in the individual categories will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. and 15 p.m. respectively. In the semi-final run, the best 15 in the kayak singles qualify for the final run. On Friday, however, there will be paddling for the European Championship medals in the team races.

Saturday August 19nd from 11:00 a.m.: semi-final run in the kayak singles for the U23 and U18 from 15:00 p.m.: Final run in the kayak singles for the U23 and U18
