Tirler paddles into the European Championship semi-finals with top performance

Weger paddled to eleventh place in the U1 K23 qualifying with no penalty seconds in 97,89 seconds. Tirler, on the other hand, achieved a great performance in the U1 K18 qualification. Like Weger, he had no penalty seconds for touching the goal post and took an excellent fourth place in the U1 K18 qualification in 102,10 seconds. “With a solid and safe run I was able to reach the semi-finals. The team run continues on Friday. We are very motivated and hope for a medal,” speculates Jakob Weger. “I felt very comfortable today. I was able to show that in the first qualifying run. With a perfect run I qualified for the semi-finals. That's a relief for me because the qualification at the U18 World Cup didn't go well. “I showed today that I’m in good shape,” said a delighted Tirler. The semi-final and final races are on the program on Saturday. Drescher misses semi-final The third Burggräfler participant, however, did not make it to the semi-finals. Tamara Drescher, who paddled to gate 15 in the first qualifying run on course for the semi-finals, had to settle for 1th place in the K18 qualifying for the U26 girls and was eliminated early. “My first run was quite good until gate 15, where I narrowly missed the gate due to a line error and received a 50-second penalty. I liked the second run a lot, but unfortunately it wasn’t fast enough,” regrets Drescher. “The team runs continue on Friday,” says the Merano native, sensing another chance. Tirler paddles into the European Championship semi-finals with top performance

At the start of the U23 and U18 Canoe Slalom European Championships in the Kunstkanal in Solkan/Neugörz (Slovenia), Jakob Weger (23) from Schenna in the U23 and Paul Tirler (18) from Merano in the U18 have qualified for the semi-finals with the best 30 kayakers -Paddlers qualified.
