U18 World Cup: Jakob Luther makes it to the semi-finals

Jakob Luther took 18th place in the qualification in the U9 kayak single sculls with a solid run and a touch on the difficult gate number 96,72, where Matthias Weger had already had great difficulties the day before and lost some time, in 7 seconds proven.

But after his run he had a big tremor. “I almost got disqualified because I started with the tip up (backwards), whereas you have to start with the tip down. But I didn't know that. All's well that ends well. With a few discussions, I still made progress,” says Jakob Luther, visibly relieved.

The winner of the qualification was the Frenchman Anatole Delassus in 92,14 seconds ahead of the Spaniard Pau Echanz (92,37) and the Briton Etienne Chappel (93,90). All 3 remained without penalty seconds, as did the Italian Leonardo Grimandi (94,36), who took 5th place. The semi-final run in the kayak single sculls will be held in both age groups on Saturday, as will the final run with the best 10 of the semi-final run. Matthias Weger will also be competing in the extreme slalom cross at the end of the World Championships in Krakow on Sunday.
