The 3rd Cool Swim Meeting in Merano begins on Friday

The man who deserves the most attention is, of course, Gregorio Paltrinieri. The Olympic champion, world champion and European champion in the 1500 m freestyle has to forego starting on his parade course because he will swim the 1500 m shortly afterwards at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in Spain and then at the Sette Colli in Rome, but he will still be in Meran can be seen in action. Missing from the Cool Meeting this year will be Gabriele Detti, who won't be able to start full training again until next week due to his shoulder problems. Domenico Acerenza's first appearance is also eagerly awaited. The Italian champion in the 400 m freestyle is the new name of Italian swimming, which faces its first international test at the European Championships.

There are two interesting prizes up for grabs for the first time this year. “Meranarena 20 years” will provide a weekend for two for the best performance of the weekend based on the FINA points table. The “Twenty” shopping center awards a shopping voucher worth 500 euros to the best performance of a swimmer from the region.

Three days and five competition sections At the Cool Swim Meeting, it's not just the general class that is evaluated, the youngsters are also in focus. That's why there are separate ratings in the children's and juniors categories. For boys, these are the 2002/04 (youth) and 2000/01 (juniors) years and the general class (years 1999 and older). For girls, the years 2004/05 (youth), 2002/03 (juniors) and 2001 and older (general class) are evaluated separately. The competitions last three days on the third weekend in June this year and are divided into five sections.
