Bozen swimmeeting starts with two records

The 29-year-old Fabio Scozzoli achieved two victories on Saturday afternoon in the fully occupied hall. This means that Scozzoli now has a total of 14 wins in Bolzano. He also set a new meeting record in the 50 m breaststroke. In 26,21 seconds, the former European champion and runner-up world champion was 0,39 seconds faster than in his victory last year. At the end of the first day, Scozzoli also won the 100 m individual medley for the first time in Bolzano. In 54,61 seconds he relegated Simone Sabbioni to second place in 54,81 in an exciting duel. Marco Orsi decided not to start at the last moment. At the start of the day, the crowd favorite won the 100 m freestyle in 48,49 seconds ahead of the German Marius Kusch (48,85) and celebrated his eleventh victory in total in Bolzano.

Kira Toussaint set the second meeting record on the first day. The Dutchwoman reduced her own meeting record from 2015 in the 100 m backstroke by 0,04 seconds to 58,16 and won ahead of Margherita Panziera (58,48). Like Scozzoli, Toussaint celebrated two wins on Saturday. At the start she also won the 100 m freestyle in 54,10 seconds and relegated Aglaia Pezzato to second place in 54,59.

Martina Carraro won the women's 50 m breaststroke in 31,02 seconds ahead of Ilaria Scarcella (31,51). Local hero Lisa Fissneider had to miss the start due to problems in her left knee, which was only operated on in August. Laura Letrari, the second local hero in Bolzano, celebrated her sixth victory at the rectory. Letrari won the 1.00,78 m individual medley for the fourth time in 100:1.01,18 minutes, just ahead of Amit Ivri (XNUMX:XNUMX) from Israel. Ivri only came to Bolzano on Friday from a three-week high-altitude training camp in Senales.

Matteo Milli won the men's 100 m backstroke in 52,37 seconds ahead of Italian record holder Simone Sabbioni (52,48). Favorite Matteo Rivolta took victory in the 50 m dolphin in 23,69 seconds, narrowly ahead of Kusch (23,71). On Sunday, Rivolta wants to take the meeting record for the 100 m dolphin, which Mario Todorovic has held since 2009 at 50,80 seconds.

Relay runner-up Kendyl Lee Stewart from the USA won the women's 50 m dolphin in 26,23 ahead of Elena Di Liddo (26,52).
