Bozen Swimmeeting delights again – victories for Letrari & Fissneider

Fabio Scozzoli set the only meeting record on the first day. The 28-year-old Italian won the 50 m breaststroke in 26,60 seconds and beat the seven-year-old best of the Slovenian Emir Tahirovic by six hundredths of a second in his 12th victory in Bolzano. Audience favorite Marco Orsi managed two victories on Saturday. The European champion initially won the 100 m freestyle in 47,59 seconds and also won the 100 m individual medley at the end. In 53,12 he stayed just above Markus Deibler's meeting record (53,04).

Orsi was happy with his times. “They reflect the work I am currently doing in training in the pool.” The eagerly awaited duel with Olympic champion Ervin was canceled. “But tomorrow the American will be competing in the 50m freestyle. The freestyle sprint will be the highlight of the year,” says meeting boss Christian Mattivi from SSV Bozen.

Home wins for Laura Letrari and Lisa Fissneider The two exceptional South Tyrolean athletes were also able to celebrate in the midst of the world class. There were the first home wins in Bolzano since 2012. Lisa Fissneider won the 50 m breaststroke on her season debut and was also happy with her time of 31,38 seconds. It was her third success in Bolzano after her victories over the 100 m breaststroke in 2010 and 2011. Laura Letrari even won for the fifth time yesterday at the Pfarrhof. The Brixen native had forgone the 100 m freestyle, but remained under 100 seconds in the 1.00,81 m individual medley in 61:XNUMX minutes, as hoped. A time that gives hope for the meeting in Massarosa in two weeks.

Italian champion Silvia Scalia remained only nine hundredths above Kira Toussaint's meeting record from last year in the 100 m backstroke in a strong 58,29 seconds. Piero Codia won the 50 m dolphin in 23,41 seconds, but just missed Steffen Deibler's event record from 2014 (23,12), like last year. Madison Kennedy from the USA won the 100 m freestyle. In a very good 53,24 seconds she won the duel with Italy's Olympic starter Aglaia Pezzato (53,75).

The victory also went overseas in the 100 m backstroke. Jacob Pebley, fifth at the Olympics in the 200 m backstroke, won in 51,31 ahead of his compatriot Matt Josa (52,6). Only in fourth place was Simone Sabbioni in 53,27. Lucie Svecena (19 years old) ensured a Czech victory in the 50 m dolphin in 26,97.
