Olympic champion, world and European champion Gregorio Paltrinieri won the 400 m freestyle at the start of the day. There were victories in the 100 m freestyle for the favorites Marco Orsi and Laura Letrari. After two days, Lorenzo Glessi already has five successes. After his two victories on Friday, he also won the 200 and 400 m individual medley and 100 m dolphin today. The surprise of the day was the defeat of former world champion Ilaria Bianchi in the 100 m dolphin. She was beaten by Giorgia Romei.

In great heat and perfect swimming weather, Paltrinieri won the 400 m freestyle duel against Italian champion Domenico Acerenza, to the delight of the audience. Paltrinieri won in a good time of 3.53,78:3.54,69 minutes ahead of Acerenza (200:2.03,83), who was a bit tired after the intensive training this week in Merano. Loenzo Glessi won the 2.14,56 m individual medley in 400:4.26,48, clearly ahead of Paltrinieri (4.34,56:100). The 55,46 m individual medley, which opened the program in the afternoon, also went to Glessi in 56,48:XNUMX minutes ahead of Paltrinieri (XNUMX:XNUMX). At the end, Glessi also won the duel over XNUMX m dolphin in XNUMX with his training partner Mattia Zuin (XNUMX). “These are very good times, especially considering that we are in full training. “I didn’t think I’d be so fast in Merano,” said a satisfied Glessi.

Star Paltrinieri, who came to Meran for a training camp for the second time with the Italian national long-distance swimming team under the supervision of head coach Stefano Morini, was also satisfied. “The balance sheet is good. I took part in many races that were unfamiliar to me. I looked most at the 400m freestyle. The time is good for now. Even though I always have a bit of a hard time over the 400 m,” said the 23-year-old from Carpi at the end of the day.

Letrari wins in freestyle Local hero Laura Letrari also showed that she is in form after her three wins on Friday. The 29-year-old from Bolzano Nuoto won and impressed today with her success in the 100 m freestyle in 55,75 seconds. “I'm happy, even though I made a few small mistakes. It is important to always stay under 56 seconds. With a view to the Mediterranean Games from June 23rd to 25th in Tarragona, everything is fine,” said Letrari, who is traveling to Spain with the national team on Wednesday. European champion Marco Orsi will be missing from the Mediterranean Games. His goal is the Sette Colli meeting in Rome at the end of the month. There he wants to get the European Championship ticket for the title fights in Glasgow from August 3rd to 9th. The “Bomber” from Budrio won the 100 m freestyle today in 50,49. “It was great to swim a race with Gregorio Paltrinieri,” said Orsi. “My time was normal because I’m fully training,” said Orsi.

Former short course world champion Ilaria Bianchi, however, was disappointed with her time in the 100 m Delfin (1.01,72). “But I completed a very tough training session on Friday afternoon and came straight to Merano. Now she is concentrating on the Sette Colli in Rome. “This is the last international competition before the European Championships in August.” Giorgia Romei unexpectedly achieved the dolphin double and, after the 200 m dolphin in the morning (2.15,27), also won the 100 m dolphin against Bianchi in 1.01,51.

There were also two victories in the morning for Erica Musso, who after the 400 m freestyle (4.16,03) also won the 200 m individual medley (2.21,51). In the afternoon there were South Tyrolean victories in the 100 m breaststroke. Viviane Graif from Meran (1.15,13) and David Springhetti from Bolzano Nuoto (1.04,30) repeated their victories from the previous day in the 50 m breaststroke. First places in the 200 m backstroke went to SSV Bozen. Nicole Brillo (2.29,50:2.17,02) and Ivan Donà (XNUMX:XNUMX) were unbeatable.
