Cool Swim Meeting: World champion Ilaria Bianchi starts in Merano

The 50m pool will be open to the best swimmers in the world from Friday June 15th to Sunday June 17th. The starting field shines with top-class names: Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri (1500m freestyle in Rio 2016) and world champion Gabriele Detti (800m freestyle in Budapest 2017) are back in Merano this year after last year. The two will train in the Lido for a week and then swim the 1500m freestyle on Sunday.

Ilaria Bianchi has recently joined. The 28-year-old has held the Italian record for the 2012m dolphin (100 seconds) on the long course since 57,27. In 2012 she became short course world champion and also short course European champion.

“We are really proud and happy that we can bring an athlete of Ilaria Bianchi’s caliber to Meran,” says OC President Walter Taranto.

The most important swimming meeting in the Passerstadt is organized by the two sports clubs AS Merano and SC Meran.
