“We want to get better and continue to grow as an event from year to year, which is why we decided to hold the Cool Swim Meeting for the first time after the Sette Colli meeting in Rome and not in mid-June as was previously the case. “The Cool Swim Meeting will be a dress rehearsal for the top Italian swimmers before the World Championships from July 21st to 28th in Gwangju, South Korea,” said Walter Taranto, President of the Organizing Committee.

For the third time in a row, the field of exceptional athletes is led by Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri. The 24-year-old is the world's best swimmer in the 1500 m freestyle and is also currently world champion and Italy's model athlete on the longest distance in pool swimming.

For the third time in a row, his coach Stefano Morini, who looks after the Italian national team of long-distance specialists in Ostia, has decided to come to Merano for a training camp. As before the 2017 World Cup in Budapest and the 2018 European Championship in Glasgow, the “Azzurri” will also carry out the fine-tuning for the World Cup in South Korea in Merano.

“A few days ago, Laura Letrari, the figurehead of South Tyrolean swimming, also confirmed her participation. Of course, we hope that the best swimmers from South Tyrol and the region will take part in our meeting, after all the Cool Swim Meeting, together with the Acquarena Cup at the end of May in Brixen, is part of the national team championship. In any case, we can already say with certainty that the Cool Swim Meeting 2019 will see record participation. We are expecting 500 to 600 starters from Italy and several European countries,” said OC boss Taranto.

In 2016, the Cool Swim Meeting was launched with the establishment of a historic organizing committee.
