Five event records were broken again on Sunday, bringing the number of meeting records in 2022 to 15. The 1000 euro prize money for the best performance based on the FINA points table went to the Italian Pier Andrea Matteazzi, who won the 400 m individual medley in 4.14,75:100 minutes on Saturday, and to Ilaria Bianchi for her victory on Sunday in the 58,47 m dolphin in XNUMX .XNUMX seconds.

The record series started on the last day by Elisa Fiorini from Trentino in the 200 m breaststroke. She pushed her own best from last year from 2.33,26:2.31,41 to 0,32:200. Luca Moni, on the other hand, missed the cool record by 2.19,25 seconds when he won the men's XNUMX m breaststroke in XNUMX:XNUMX.

Martina Cenci, however, set an event record in the 100 m backstroke. The young Italian, who won three silver medals at the Italian Short Course Championships in winter, won in 1.02,44:1.03,11 and took the meeting record away from Laura Letrari (100:53,20). A few days before leaving for the Mediterranean Games in Algeria, Cenci was satisfied: “The form is there and also the desire to show good results. Ilaria Bianchi and Pier Andrea Matteazzi are also preparing for the Mediterranean Games and have prepared for it with event records in Meran. Bianchi improved her best performance from the Cool Meeting in 2019 by over a second from 59,74 to an excellent 58,47 seconds. “A wonderful time, I needed it too. I wanted to show a strong race. I succeeded,” Bianchi cheered about the best FINA performance of the three-day event.

Matteazzi also laughed after his second meeting record. After the 400 m individual medley on Saturday, he also won the 200 m individual medley today in 2.01,52:2018 minutes and took the meeting record from Lorenzo Glessi from 2.03,83 (XNUMX:XNUMX). “Today I could have been a little faster on the chest position, but there's not much to complain about in terms of time. We are in June, but the season is far from over,” said Matteazzi happily.

On the third and final day, Michele Busa also set a meeting record in the 100 m dolphin, winning in 54,33 seconds and thus undercutting Marco De Tullio's record from 2019 (55,02). The Brazilian Nathalia Almeida, on the other hand, failed to break the third meeting record of the weekend. She won the 200 m individual medley in 2.15,87:2.14,82 minutes, but Laura Letrari's cool record of 800:8.54,59 remains.
