Five meeting records in two days at the rectory

Kelsi Dahlia was the outstanding athlete at the 22nd South Tyrol Swim Meeting at the Pfarrhof at the weekend. In her first start in Bolzano, the Rio Olympic relay champion won four races and set three of the five meeting records that the audience celebrated on Saturday and Sunday. After her victories on Saturday in the 100m freestyle and 50m dolphin, she opened the second day with a win and a meet record in the 100m dolphin. In 55,98 seconds she obliterated Natalie Coughlin's meeting record, which had stood since 2011 (56,97), and won ahead of Kendyl Stewart (56,79) and Elena Di Liddo (58,47). At the end, Dahlia was safe in the 50 m freestyle in 24,51 and won ahead of Lia Neal (25,09) and Erika Ferraioli (25,10).

There were also four wins over the two days for Marius Kusch from Germany, the star among the men. After the successes on On Saturday in the 50 m dolphin and 100 m individual medley he was only six hundredths above Mario Todorovic's nine-year-old meeting record (100) when he won the 50,86 m dolphin in 52,36 ahead of Piero Codia (50,80). Kusch also won the highly anticipated 50m freestyle. He won the second series in a personal best time of 21,99 seconds. American Michael Chadwick won the final series in 22,06, finishing second ahead of crowd favorite Marco Orsi (22,23) who finished third.

Fabio Scozzoli has been one of the protagonists of the South Tyrol Swim Meeting for years. This year too, the 30-year-old from Imola, current European vice-champion in the 50 m breaststroke, lived up to expectations. He has won both breaststroke races and already has 17 wins in his career in Bolzano. He has now overtaken Janine Pietsch (16) and is now only one win behind record winner Thomas Rupprath (18) in the all-time rankings. Scozzoli has his strong performance over 100 m breaststroke on Sunday with a meeting record of 58,07 seconds. He was 0,58 seconds faster than a year ago. Second place went to Nicolò Martinenghi, who equaled Scozzoli's old meeting record in 58,65.

Zaccaria Casna from Bolzano finished fourth and narrowly missed the podium over 1.00,15 m in 50:50 minutes, just like the day before. Scozzoli's friend Martina Carraro was also completely satisfied. She did the breaststroke double and after the 100 m also won the 1.06,78 m in 1.07,24:1.07,49 minutes ahead of Maria Romanjuk (XNUMX:XNUMX) and Baker (XNUMX:XNUMX).

Like Scozzoli and Carraro, the 17-year-old also has Thomas Ceccon celebrated two victories. After the 100 m backstroke, he also won the 50 m backstroke in 24,02 ahead of David Gamburg from Israel (24,74) and Lorenzo Mora (24,92).
