Lisa Fissneider: "I fell in love with Verona" - VIDEO

Lisa Fissneider has made a change of scenery. Two weeks ago, the 18-year-old from Überetscher traveled from Bolzano to Verona, where she is now training in the swimming association's performance center under the wing of Hungarian Tamas Gyertyanffy. In the Veneto she wants to find her way back to her old strength after a messed up year.

"I've learned a lot in the past year. Things have been going up for three years, this year for the first time my development has gone downhill. But that's completely normal for an athlete, things can't always go up. Of course "It's a shame that I wasn't there at the Olympics. But I'm confident about the future," says the Kalter native.

In Verona she now has everything a professional swimmer could wish for. "We have a 25-meter pool, a 50-meter pool, gymnasiums, everything you need to work. Nothing better can happen to a professional swimmer. I'm glad that the association is giving me this chance, that I can be there. We have great support," says Fissneider, who has settled in well in Verona and feels very comfortable. "I really like the city. I've been to the center twice now and have already fallen in love with Verona."

The South Tyrolean says about working with her new trainer: "I can work well with him. We laugh a lot, but he is also strict." Gyertyanffy says about his protégé: "Lisa is a great girl, she is very attentive and can quickly implement my instructions. She wants to prove her strength again," said the Hungarian coach.

Fissneider's ex-coach Dario Taraboi believes that Lisa Fissneider can do it. "Lisa wanted to try something new and was given this opportunity by the association. I think Lisa will do well." The many fans in South Tyrol will certainly also want that.
