Strong performances from the Merano swimmers

The team's participation in this event is the first step towards the national championships, which will take place from March 16 to 18 and mark the end of the first part of the season. The competition was an excellent opportunity for the athletes to test themselves against the competition, gain competition experience and experiment with technical adaptations. The people of Merano achieved excellent results: almost all athletes beat their personal best or came close to it. What was particularly pleasing was that four finals were reached with four different athletes. Denise Kienzl came sixth in the girls' 100 backstroke, Thomas Caser took sixth place in the men's 100 breaststroke, Selina Waldner also came sixth in the junior women's 6 breaststroke, while Hannah Spitaler finished the women's 100 freestyle with her best time to date ( 6 seconds) won. Great performances Thomas Caser (second in the men's 200 breaststroke) and Selina Waldner (third in both the junior women's 200 and 50 breaststroke) achieved podium places. Also worth highlighting is Anna Sorrentis' personal best in the 400 meters (4.38,07:800 minutes) and 9.31,65 freestyle (10:XNUMX). In the team ranking, the Merano team finished XNUMXth, which meant they performed best among the South Tyrolean clubs. Head coach Claudio Priamo was absolutely satisfied with his team. The next competitions are already just around the corner: On February 18th and 19th, the Merano SCM swimmers will take part in the second stage of the Paris Cup (provincial federal competition that takes place in Bolzano). Another fixed date is the Buon Consiglio meeting in Gardolo on March 4th and 5th. The final date for the championships is the competition in Bolzano on Saturday, March 11th.
