The Hungarian capital hosted the World Cup in 2017. Stefano Ballo will hold the South Tyrolean flag high in Budapest. The man from Bolzano will only swim in the 4x200 m relay at the World Championships next week. The important day is Thursday, June 23rd. “We will try to qualify for the final. We have a good chance of achieving a good result. We have been chasing the dream of a medal for 3 years. Maybe it will work this time,” Ballo recently wrote in the Tagblatt Dolomites quoted. Because the 29-year-old was fourth at the Italian Championships in Riccione, De Tullio and Stefano Di Cola will swim the individual 200 m freestyle race at the World Championships. Are Russian athletes allowed to take part in the World Cup? No. After much hesitation, the Fina banned athletes from Russia and Belarus from all events it organized at the end of March. The world association had previously allowed these athletes to start under a neutral flag and received sharp criticism for this. Germany and Switzerland had announced that they would not take part in the World Swimming Championships if Russian and Belarusian athletes were allowed to compete.
