Tough three-way battle at the start of the Volvo Ocean Race

Alicante (SID) Excitement shortly after the start of the Volvo Ocean Race: The three teams from Dongfeng (China), Mapfre (Spain) and Brunel (Netherlands) came dangerously close to each other on Sunday, only turning away at the last moment. Like Burling, he can do the “sail triple” perfectly. “Racing around the world has always fascinated me,” said Burling, who supports skipper legend Bouwe Bekking at Brunel: “I can hardly wait to prove myself in this extreme challenge and continue to learn.” After a rule change, all teams have also hired women; in "Turn The Tide on Plastic" the British Dee Caffari gives the commands as skipper. The project under the UN flag wants to draw attention to ocean pollution. The race is held with boats of the standard Volvo Ocean 65 class, the yachts are around 20 meters long. After the end of each grueling stage, adjustments can be made to the composition of the crews.
