13th European Championship gold within reach for Tania Cagnotto - UPDATE

Cagnotto outperformed the entire competition in qualifying. With a total score of 292,90 and a lead of 12,75 and 19,4 points, she confidently relegated the two Russians Nadezhda Bazhina and Kristina Illinykh to the top spots. Maria Elisabetta Marconi also made it to the final, finishing sixth in the qualification (246,05 points).

Tania Cagnotto has already been crowned European champion four times in the 1m board discipline, namely in 2009 and 2011 in Turin, 2010 in Budapest and last year in Rostock. When the final comes up this afternoon at 14 p.m., then the next title will come. Overall, it would be Cagnotto's 13th "golden" at the European Championships.

Verzotto/Dell'Uomo finished fifth in qualifying

In addition to the 29-year-old, Maicol Verzotto is also on duty in Berlin today. Together with Francesco Dell'Uomo he competes in synchronized diving from the tower. 13th European Championship gold within reach for Tania Cagnotto - UPDATE

On Wednesday Tania Cagnotto made her first big appearance at the European Championships in Berlin. In the individual diving from the 1 m board, the Bolzano diver made it to the final as first place. The 13th European Championship gold is within reach.
