Cagnotto and Dallapè miss the podium at the start of the season

Tania Cagnotto and her synchronous partner Francesca Dallapè from Trento were the first to go onto the diving board in the Olympic Center of the Chinese metropolis. In the end, they missed out on a podium finish by just 0,30 points. Cagnotto and Dallapè had a total score of 295,80, while third-placed Mexicans Arantxa Chavez and Laura Sanchez scored 296,10 points. As expected, the two Chinese local heroes Tingmao Shi and Minxia Wu left nothing to be desired in the fight for their first win of the season. With their 330,60 points, they placed well ahead of the American duo of Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware (305,16).

Victory in the synchronized diving from the 10 m tower also went to China. Yuan Cao and Yue Lin climbed to the top podium with 466,32 points. They relegated Patrick Hausding and Sascha Klein from Germany, as well as the Brits Daniel Goodfallow and Matthew Lee to second and third place. Maicol Verzotto and Francesco Dell'Uomo took last place out of four participating couples. They achieved 343,29 points.

Cagnotto and Dallapè miss the podium at the start of the season

The start of the first stage of the FINA World Series in Beijing didn't go quite as planned for the Bolzano divers Maicol Verzotto and Tania Cagnotto. Both had to settle for fourth place in the synchronized jumping.
