Home success for Cagnotto/Dallapè

Three weeks before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Tania Cagnotto from Bolzano and Francesca Dallapè from Trento triumphed in front of their fans in the Bolzano Lido. In extremely difficult conditions - namely cool temperatures and strong winds - the “Azzurre” won with an underwhelming 289,92 points. The meager yield was due to the adverse weather conditions in the state capital's swimming pool. For Cagnotto/Dallapè it was the fifth victory at the Fina Diving Grand Prix in the Talferstadt since their first success in 2010.

Cagnotto/Dallapè jumped in with a not quite synchronous Auerbach head jump. They then followed up with a remarkable head dive backwards before performing a two-and-a-half somersault forward with a twist. On the fourth jump, the three-and-a-half somersault forward, the duo made another mistake - which was due to the strong wind in the Bolzano swimming pool. Tania Cagnotto/Francesca Dallapè concluded the program with a two-and-a-half dolphin somersault, which was also not quite perfect.

The podium was completed by Han Wang/Zhihuan Xu from China, 2,22 points behind “Azzurre”, and Uschi Freitag/Inge Jansen (Netherlands), who lost 22,32 points to Cagnotto/Dallapè.

The Chinese Zewei Xu/Hao Yang won the men's synchronized tower competition with 390,69 points. This took place before the women's final.

Home success for Cagnotto/Dallapè

The eight-time European champions in synchronized diving from the 3m board also won this competition at the Fina Diving Grand Prix in Bolzano on Friday. This competition is the Olympic test for Rio 2016.
