“In February”: Cagnotto announces comeback

The “Coppa Tokyo” takes place in Trieste in February. “The plan is to start there,” said Tania Cagnotto in an interview with the “Gazzetta dello Sport” on Wednesday. However, she is “not yet in water training” and will only start in Trieste when she is “absolutely ready for it”. Cagnotto also stated that he only wanted to compete within Italy.

The little one also keeps messing up Cagnotto's training plans: “It's all a big mess. I always have to coordinate with my mother because she looks after the little one when I'm training.” Cagnotto wants to start water training in a few weeks. At the moment, the 33-year-old is content with dry training because “there is still a lot of work to be done on building muscle.”

Cagnotto's big goal is the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. However, she emphasizes: “I don’t want to become a burden.” The South Tyrolean no longer has the pressure to win a medal.

Cagnotto won this two years ago in Rio de Janeiro: bronze in the individual from the three-meter board, silver in a team with Francesco Dallapè. “The pressure of an Olympic medal has stayed with me throughout my entire career.
