Strong: Cagnotto and Dallapè take silver in Bolzano

“We are still a long way from our previous standards and I don’t know if we will ever get there again, but today was an important step,” explained Cagnotto on Friday evening in the Bolzano Lido. Together with Dallapè from Trento, she finished her first international competition since the 2016 Olympics in Rio in second place.

The two young mothers only had to admit defeat to the two Chinese women Xiaohui Huang and Ying Wei (3) in the synchronized jumping from the 261,30-meter board with 293,10 points. At the end of May, Cagnotto and Dallapè had already won silver at the Italian Championships.

Experienced Maicol Verzotto (31) and his brother Julian, who is 13 years younger, were also able to impress on the first day of the competition. At their first joint international appearance in synchronized high diving, they immediately achieved third place. Only the duos Yang/Yuan (China) and Vnukov/Stroev (Russia) were ahead of the Verzotto brothers. Maicol Verzotto will be the only South Tyrolean in action on the next two days of the competition.
