Second! Cagnotto shines in Kazan

Tania Cagnotto will always have very positive feelings for Kazan. Last year, the 30-year-old from Bolzano was crowned world champion on the 1m board in Russia and won bronze on the 3m board a few days later. Cagnotto returned to Kazan at the weekend and was in action twice this Sunday.

In the individual 3m board, the Talferstadt native was only beaten by Zi He (388,20) from Cina. And with a brilliant performance of 362,20 points. Cagnotto thus equaled her personal best from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Australian Maddison Keeney (352,15) completed the podium. Tania Cagnotto finished fifth in the overall ranking of the FINA Diving World Series.

In the second competition, in mixed synchronized jumping, Tania Cagnotto took fourth place together with Maicol Verzotto (also from Bozen). Here the victory went to the Chinese Han Wang/Hao Yang.

“I am very happy with my score, which I have only achieved once so far, in London in 2012. I'm still a bit away from my top form. But I still have a few months left until Rio. The fact that I was once able to beat a Chinese woman, Tingmao Shi, makes me particularly proud. I never expected that in my life. Now it’s time to recharge the batteries for the European Championships,” Tania Cagnotto is quoted as saying on the website of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN/federnuoto.it).
