Chaos on arrival at the World Cup: Innerhofer & Co. experience an odyssey

Ms. Holle had a great time in Munich and Stockholm on Sunday. The result: lots of snow on runways – and therefore numerous canceled flights. This really threw the ski stars' program into disarray.

“Where are we flying to? Maldives!" Christof Innerhofer, for example, set off from Munich to Stockholm on Sunday together with his ski colleagues Matteo Marsaglia, Josef Ferstl and Adrien Theaux. However, the plane took off around seven hours late. “Where are we flying to, Christof?” Ferstl asked in one of the many Instagram videos posted. “Maldives, right?” Innerhofer replied with a smile.

The speed specialists arrived in Stockholm at 1 a.m. on Monday. Only: The Swedish metropolis is a good 700 kilometers away from the World Cup venue Åre. There was no longer a connecting flight at that time. Nevertheless, the ski aces didn't lose their sense of humor: While Innerhofer treated himself to a nap on a table at the airport, Ferstl watched the Super Bowl. Ultimately, the descendants climbed onto a train at 4 a.m. and set off towards Åre, where they finally arrived on Monday afternoon. “Finally arrived after 24 hours,” Ferstl posted on Instagram. It's easier on a private jet At that time, Beat Feuz and Dominik Paris were already in Åre: they caught an earlier flight and arrived in Östersund at 0.30:80 a.m. on Monday. Others were able to thank their ski association, such as double Olympic champion Matthias Mayer, Hannes Reichelt and Co. After the downhill run on Saturday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was canceled due to too much fresh snow, we went to Åre in a private jet. Mikaela Shiffrin, Ilka Stuhec, Federica Brignone and Wendy Holdener also traveled to Sweden in a specially chartered plane.
