Silver Goggia overjoyed: “I’m happy to be there”

“This medal means a lot to me. “I’m glad that I can be here at all,” said silver medalist Goggia on ORF after the race. The 26-year-old from Bergamo alluded to the serious ankle injury she suffered in the run-up to the season. “I worked hard for two months towards these World Championship races and had a lot of people around me who helped me. But you have to take the last step alone and that’s exactly what I did today.”

After the gold medal, Shiffrin even joked: “Because of that flight chaos Half my luggage is still not in Åre. Luckily the racing suit was there, so I was at least able to start. Of course I didn’t expect the world title, but I was aggressive and it was close.”

After winning the World Championship silver medal in the Super-G in Åre, Sofia Goggia was overjoyed. Lindsey Vonn confirmed that the fall at the start of the World Cup was not her last appearance on the big ski stage.
