SportNews ski cannon: Åre 2019 with Kalle Anka

The full-time ski cannons will meet in Åre in Sweden until February 17th. The SportNews -Ski cannon should of course not be missing from this major event and is dedicating a special edition to the World Cup. After all, our humble section was officially invited to the opening ceremony by the Royal Swedish master of ceremonies! Time for history... Manfred Mölgg became runner-up in slalom at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, beaten by Mario Matt (AUT). Matt has now ended his career, so the way is clear for Mölgg to his first gold medal - in theory at least, because in practice the 36-year-old Enneberger is in a difficult slalom season with three retirements and only one top 10 result (6. in Madonna). But Mölgg is a World Cup foe, after silver in 2007, he won bronze in the slalom in Garmisch in 2011 and bronze in the giant slalom in Schladming in 2013.

Members of the Swedish royal family probably won't miss the World Ski Championships either, King Carl XVI Gustaf is the monarchical head of state of Sweden. In Sweden everything is a little different, so it's no wonder that the world-famous cartoon character Donald Duck is in Sweden Kalle Anka heißt.

The 2019 Alpine Ski World Cup starts on Monday in the land of Volvo and crispbread. Åre is the World Cup venue for the third time, after 1958 and 2007.
