World Cup expert panel: Patrick Staudacher predicts the Super-G

Patrick Staudacher (Pflersch) took part in two world championships (2007 in Åre, 2009 in Val d'Isère). His big moment came at the World Championships in Åre, exactly 12 years ago to the day (February 6, 2007) when he was crowned world champion in the Super-G.

... favorites and secret favorites in the World Cup Super-G: There are many favorites in Super-G, e.g. B. Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT) and Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR). Even among the secret favorites, I can think of a few names if they keep calm. For example Mattia Casse (ITA), who was nominated for the World Cup at the last moment (due to Emanuele Buzzi's injury) and has nothing to lose.

...the chances of the South Tyroleans: Dominik Paris (Ulten) and Christof Innerhofer (Gais) are also among the medal contenders, both have already been on the podium in the Super-G this season, Paris even won in Bormio and Innerhofer was at the dress rehearsal in Åre in March 2018 third in the Super-G.

...his personal World Cup highlight: Clearly, it was the 2007 World Cup where everything really came together for me and I became world champion. That was a very special day that I will of course always remember.

...curious World Cup experiences: There were definitely a lot of mishaps and whoops, but luckily I forgot about them all over time.

...the difficulties of a World Cup race: The key is not to let everything around you get distracted. The pressure is of course greater, there is enormous media hype around this one race. I think if you're able to approach the whole thing like a normal World Cup race, then a lot can be achieved.

...his winning tip for the Super-G: I'm betting on Dominik Paris, and that's not a risky bet.
