All against one in the South Tyrol Arena

When the starting signal for the individual competition is given on Friday at 14.15:28 p.m., the big hunt for Martin Fourcade begins. The 28-year-old exceptional talent from France is targeting his eleventh win of the season with start number XNUMX. He also won the only individual competition so far this winter.

However, the World Cup dominator has to be prepared for strong competition, especially Simon Schempp (start number 30), who hasn't really found his way yet but is traditionally one of the absolute elite in Antholz. Last year he achieved his fifth victory in the Südtirol Arena. The race will be opened by Schempp's compatriot Arnd Peiffer, who is also one of the podium contenders, as is the Russian Anton Shipulin (start number 33). He particularly likes the cross-country ski trails in the Antholz Biathlon Center.

Dominik Windisch: “An absolute highlight”

The Italian selection also has a hot iron in the fire in the individual race, namely Dominik Windisch. The local hero from Oberrasen was on the podium twice at the World Cup in Oberhof. “The shape definitely fits. I still have some difficulties at the shooting range, but I hope I can overcome them in competition. After all, this race, alongside the World Championship, is the absolute highlight of the season for me.” Windisch will start the race with start number ten, while his teammate Lukas Hofer has the “6”. He is also looking forward to the thrilling World Cup experience on home snow: “Here we enjoy much more attention than at other races. That makes everything even more special.”

The other Azzurri all have higher start numbers: Giuseppe Montello goes into the trail in 76th place, Thomas Bormolini follows with “80”, while World Cup debutant Rudy Zini has start number 87.
