The sprint titles will be awarded in Ridnaun on Friday

There are numerous top stars at the start such as Alexander Loginov, Dmitry Malyshko (both Russia), Simon Fourcade, Emilien Jacquelin and Jean Guillaume Beatrix (all France) or the newly crowned individual European champion Felix Leitner from Austria. With Saverio Zini, Rudy Zini, Pietro Dutto, Paolo Rodigari and Andreas Plaickner, five “Azzurri” are also registered. Ole Einar Björndalen, who announced on Thursday through the Norwegian association that he will not be taking part in the continental title fights in South Tyrol, will be missing. The sprint will be opened at 11:00 a.m. by the Swede Simon Hallstroem. A total of 143 biathletes are at the start.

The women's field of participants includes 110 biathletes. The Russian Valeria Vasnetcova will start the race in the sprint with start number 1 at 14:00.30 p.m. The focus will be particularly on local hero Karin Oberhofer, the Horchler sisters Karolin and Nadine (Germany), the individual European champion Chloe Chevalier from France and of course the strong Russian team with Victoria Slivko, Irina Starykh & Co. In addition to Oberhofer, Ginevra Rocchia from the Italian team is also at the start.

The European Biathlon Championships in Ridnaun will continue with the sprint on Friday. The men (10 km) start at 11 a.m., the women (7,5 km) start the “short” competition at 14.00 p.m.
