Here's to something new: Dorothea Wierer gets started

The majority of the biathletes started training on Monday in Viareggio. A few days later, Dorothea Wierer also got started. One thing is certain: the Niederrasner woman can rely on her experience in preparation for the season.

Back in 2009, Dorothea Wierer made her World Cup debut in Oberhof. She has been a regular in the elite class for around 13 years. Wierer has now celebrated her 33rd birthday and has actually won everything there is to win in the sport of biathlon: The South Tyrolean is a four-time world champion, a two-time overall World Cup winner and fulfilled her dream of an individual Olympic medal in Beijing a year ago. So in terms of experience, no one can beat her anymore.

As the Italian winter sports association announced, Wierer started preparing for the season this Thursday. “Miss Biathlon” is training again this year with the men’s team around Tommaso Giacomel, Didier Bionaz, Elia Zeni, Daniele Cappellari, Cedric Christille, Daniele Fauner, Iacopo Leonesio, Michele Molinari and the two South Tyroleans Patrick Braunhofer and David Zingerle. A model that proved itself last year, after all, she took second place in the overall World Cup and won World Cup gold with the women's relay in Oberhof.

Wierer & Co. begin dry training in the Forni Avoltri biathlon center. While Lukas Hofer cannot yet be there at the first meeting, that is Women's team currently stationed in Viareggio.
