Baby happiness: A world champion abdicates

The 31-year-old comes from the golden Czech generation around Gabriela Koukalová and can look back on an extremely successful career in which she has won almost everything there is to win. In total, she climbed to 28 World Cup podiums, celebrated 7 victories (including relays) and won precious metals at both the Olympic Games and World Championships (mixed relay gold in Kontiolahti). The best result in the overall World Cup was 4th place in the 2014/2015 season. Baby message makes decision easier In the last two seasons she was no longer able to build on her old performances and mostly fell short of expectations. That's why she speculated about ending her career after the winter, but was initially unsure - until some good news made her decision much easier. Because Vitkova and her partner and trainer Marek Lejsk are becoming parents for the first time.

“That's it. My biathlon life ends and a new phase begins. I am glad that I was able to be part of the Czech biathlon boom and would like to thank everyone who supported me during my career,” says the Czech on Instagram.
