Get back on track at the World Cup dress rehearsal

Things haven't gone as planned for the Azzurri so far in the new year. Only Dorothea Wierer was able to climb onto the podium once (3rd in the Ruhpolding sprint). But last season's overall World Cup winner is also struggling a bit with her form. The reason for this is her intervertebral disc problems, which have been with her again since Oberhof. According to her statement, it is the same pain that she had during summer preparation. At the pursuit competition in Ruhpolding, her physical problems became apparent for the first time on the cross-country ski trail when she lost a few places in the last lap and ended up in 20th place.

While Wierer, who is in second place in the overall World Cup for the women (2 points behind the leader Tiril Eckhoff), continues to achieve top rankings despite her current problems, there is currently no athlete among the men who can compete at the top. Lukas Hofer, who was in good shape at the start of the season, has recently not been able to get up to speed at all. This was also because he was ill over the New Year and was still feeling the effects of the flu, especially in Oberhof.

In any case, Hofer, Dominik Windisch & Co., who were recently unable to convince in the relay races, should slowly find their way back to their old form, after all the home World Championships start in Antholz in 3 weeks. Before that, the competitions in Pokljuka, Slovenia are on the program from Thursday - as a dress rehearsal, so to speak.
