Best performance of the season: Wierer runs in second place!

Two weeks ago, Dorothea Wierer made it onto the podium in third place in the pursuit competition in Östersund. Now the 26-year-old from Niederrasen has stepped up and climbed another step higher. In the "Witches' Cauldron" in Nové M?sto, which was filled with 35.000 spectators, she entered the trail in seventh place in the sprint and immediately gained position after position. After the first prone attack she was already in second place, but then lost some ground after one mistake in each of the following shooting units. Wierer had to fight hard again - and did so in an impressive manner: she completed the last standing stage at her usual record pace and started chasing Chevailier. The Pustertaler came steadily closer to the surprisingly strong Frenchwoman, but she managed to keep a lead of almost ten seconds at the finish. The Russian sprint winner Tatiana Akimova secured third place.

At the end, Wierer celebrated her 24th podium finish in the World Cup - the third of the current season, after the two third places in the pursuit and in the mixed relay at the start in Östersund.

In addition to Wierer, the other starters of the Italian team were also able to put themselves in the spotlight on Saturday. The Friulian Lisa Vittozzi surprised with 14th place, while Federica Sanfilippo from Ridnaun collected numerous World Cup points in 21st place. The young woman from Val Gardena, Alexia Runggaldier, took 31st place. On Sunday the World Cup program in Nové M?sto will conclude with the mass start races. Then Wierer will start the next attack on the top positions.

With an irresistible performance, Dorothea Wierer made it to the podium in an individual race for the second time this season. In the pursuit race in Nové M?sto na Morav? (Czech Republic) she only had to give way to the French premiere winner Anais Chevalier.
