Biathlon: Hinz and Rees in eleventh place in the single mixed relay

Until the halfway point of the race, the German duo was still close to the podium places, but three spares from Hinz in their second prone stage cost a lot of time. In the following standing test, the relay world champion needed three more replacement cartridges and thus dashed all hopes of a top placing. In the end the gap to the French was 58,5 seconds. "There were simply too many reloaders," said Hinz on ZDF: "I would have liked to not have given the novel so much of a backlog, but that's how it was." Rees, who only needed two reserve cartridges, added: "Today it was already tight and not quite smooth." In the first single mixed relay of the season at the World Cup opener in Östersund/Sweden, Hinz took second place with Erik Lesser (Frankenhain). Next year the discipline will be held at the World Cup for the first time. Dahlmeier (Partenkirchen) and Peiffer (Clausthal-Zellerfeld) as well as Simon Schempp (Uhingen) were rested in both the single mixed and mixed relay, but will run again in the mass starts on Sunday (from 13.30 p.m.). .
