Gust is unbeatable again – Hofer makes a mistake at the shooting range

The outstanding biathlete so far this season remains the Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö, who celebrated his sixth success in the eighth race of the season. The 25-year-old didn't miss a shot and finished 46,5 seconds ahead of Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet (two penalties) and Russian Yevgeny Garanichev (0/+54,1).

The German Olympic sprint champion Arnd Peiffer, who had to do a penalty lap, was a good five seconds behind third place.

Bö won all competitions in Nove Mesto this weekend. He had already won both the sprint and the pursuit in the previous days.

Hofer too prone to errors However, there was nothing to gain for the only South Tyrolean in the field, Lukas Hofer from Montal. He had to settle for 18th place. Hofer was particularly impressive on the cross-country ski trails, but failed several times at the shooting range. Six mistakes were far too many. Hofer had already taken 17th place in the pursuit thanks to a strong cross-country skiing performance (SportNews reported) .

But first things first: Hofer showed a good running performance right from the start and was in the top ten, but in the first prone shooting the 29-year-old had to go into the penalty loop twice with two mistakes and fell back to 23rd place.

In the second prone stage, Hofer remained flawless and was able to fight his way to 14th place. The Montaler also continued to show a strong performance on the cross-country ski run and went into the first standing shooting in 13th place, where he made a mistake once. Hofer fell back to 19th place. In the cross-country ski run he fought his way back to 13th place, but completely botched the last shooting with three errors and fell back to 20th place.
