The next podium! Wierer in 3rd place

Despite four mistakes, Dorothea Wierer also made it onto the podium in the World Cup pursuit. Above all, an outstanding running performance secured Wierer's renewed podium finish. Only the Finnish favorite Kaisa Mäkäräinen and the Slovakian Paulina Falkowa were better this time.

But first things first: the first 10 athletes in the sprint race started in the 60-kilometer pursuit. The Russian Yekaterina Viktorovna Jurlova took the lead after a flawless first shooting, but was immediately replaced at the top by Mäkäräinen, who had to go into the penalty loop once.

The second prone shooting went much better for Wierer. Wierer shot quickly and without mistakes and fought his way to third place. Behind the Slovakian Paulina Fialkowa and Mäkäräinen, Wierer went into the first standing shooting in third place. Due to a missed shot, “Doro” had to go into the penalty loop once and fell back to 4th place.

Wierer also recently showed a strong performance on the cross-country ski trail and went into the fourth and final shooting in third place. She made a mistake while standing, had to go into the penalty loop and again placed fourth. Meanwhile, the previously flawless Pole Monika Hojnisz had taken the lead. Fialkowa and Mäkäräinen took second and third place after the last shooting. In the last few meters, however, Wierer had to let Fialkowa pass and ultimately took a strong third place. Strong race from Sanfilippo and Runggaldier Federica Sanfilippo showed a very strong race (19th after the sprint). The woman from Ridnaun survived the first three shooting sessions without any mistakes, made a mistake in the fourth shooting session and took seventh place. The 28-year-old achieved her third top ten result in the World Cup in an individual race.
