The biathlon team moves to Antholz

Tens of thousands of biathlon fans usually make a pilgrimage to Antholz when the world's best ski hunters are guests here. This year no spectators are allowed there either. In addition, a strong hygiene concept is implemented. The organizers are nevertheless trying to make the renowned biathlon event a thrilling event again this year and to transfer the traditional feeling to the television screens.

The women start on Thursday with an individual competition over 15 kilometers. This is the 2nd of a total of 3 races this season in this discipline, in which the athletes receive a penalty minute for each shooting error. Dorothea Wierer won the first competition (at the start of the World Cup in Kontiolahti). Almost a year ago she won World Cup gold in the individual competition in Antholz. Due to her good shooting form, Wierer is also one of the top favorites to win on Thursday. Hofer and Wierer: The form is right For the men it starts on Friday – also with an individual competition (20 km). Local hero Lukas Hofer is aiming for the first podium place of the season, after narrowly missing out on it several times recently. The biathlon team moves to Antholz

After the double World Cup in Oberhof, the world's best biathletes will continue in Antholz from Thursday. The last competitions before the World Cup will take place there in Pokljuka, Slovenia (February 10th to 21st), although this year everything will be different at the World Cup in Pustertal.
