The madness continues: Dorothea Wierer also wins!

Dorothea Wierer started the race as one of the favorites, but lost time in the first shooting with a penalty loop. But her comeback in lap two clearly showed the determination with which the Niederrasner woman had approached the race. She found the connection and then always remained error-free at the shooting range. “Just don’t think about it for too long and shoot happily” – the ski hunter from the community of Rasen-Antholz’s recipe for success worked perfectly. At the last shooting, the three leading women in the overall World Cup (Wierer, Dorin and Soukalova) presented themselves together on the mats at the shooting range. “Doro” did her thing while her competitors hesitated and made mistakes. So Wierer left the stadium with a lead of half a minute, but fought doggedly against the wind, which at times even made it difficult to move forward, knowing that Dorin had tried to catch up. But Dorothea Wierer showed what tough stuff she was made of and didn't let anything burn. She triumphantly reached the finish line, where she made the Italian trainers and the “good Italian soul” in Canmore, Carmelo Ciaramidaro, completely happy. The Niederrasner woman's bright orange glasses shone in the light snow flurry, Dorin and Soukalova took the places of honor behind them.

The race went less well for Karin Oberhofer and Federica Sanfilippo. With six (Oberhofer) and seven (Sanfilippo) penalties, they finished 20th and 27th.

An hour and a half after Dominik Windisch's first World Cup triumph, another South Tyrolean celebrated at the World Cup in Canmore (Canada): Dorothea Wierer made a super Saturday perfect for the local biathlon sport with her victory in the women's mass start.
