The wind blows Wierer off the podium

The South Tyrolean, who is used to success, ends the World Cup stop in East Germany without a podium finish. As in the sprint on Thursday, Wierer also took 4th place in the final mass start race. After 5 shooting errors, the 29-year-old from Niederrasen had no chance of winning on Sunday in changing conditions and sometimes strong winds and was more than a minute behind the leaders at the finish.

With Lisa Vittozzi, alongside Wierer, the 2nd Azzurra also made it into the top ten. The top athlete from Friuli, who was recently in crisis, took 9th place.

In the overall ranking, Wierer is still ahead after this 4th place. However, she is only leading by a very thin margin ahead of the in-form Eckhoff.
