The French are cheering in Antholz

For the first time since 2012, the French biathletes are shining from the winner's podium in Antholz. While starting runner Justine Braisaz held back, it was her teammates Anais Bescond, Anais Chevalier and Marie Dorin Habert who then outpaced the competition. Although they had to reload a total of eight times, they saved themselves a penalty loop - unlike their competitors from the Czech Republic, who had to do an extra loop twice. Nevertheless, Gabriela Soukalova & Co. gained several positions in the final sprint and finished the race in second place. The biathletes from Russia completed the podium. All three relay teams have never been on the podium this season.

Italy are six tenths shy of third place

It almost wasn't enough for Russia to finish in the top three in Antholz. Final runner Olga Podchufarova saved a very thin lead of six tenths over Dorothea Wierer at the finish. The South Tyrolean offered a furious comeback, gained position after position and led the Italian relay team, which had always been on the podium in the previous two races of the season and led the discipline rankings, to fourth place. Wierer had replaced ninth-placed Sanfilippo, who was barely able to make up any ground. Previously, Karin Oberhofer brought the Azzurre back into the race after a cautious performance by starting runner Lisa Vittozzi. In total, the Italians missed eleven times at the shooting range, but avoided a penalty.

Things went much worse for the German quartet, who had to settle for a disappointing tenth place after two relay victories in Antholz. From 14.40:XNUMX p.m. the men have the chance to do better in the final race.

On the last day of competition of the World Cup stage in the South Tyrol Arena, the French women's relay team put on a big show. She gave the competition no chance on the 4x6 kilometers. Italy's final runner Dorothea Wierer, however, barely missed the podium.
