Wierer opened up after her sprint victory on Thursday ( SportNews has reported ) the persecution in Antholz. And: It looked good for a long time. Actually very good. After the first two shooting sessions, which she completed flawlessly, the local hero was almost half a minute ahead of second-placed Frenchwoman Chloe Chevalier.

But then “Doro” made a mistake in the first standing stage. A penalty lap was the result. Marte Olsbu Röiseland meanwhile took the lead, Wierer remained in second place after the penalty loop, just behind the leading Norwegian. After two more mistakes in the final shooting, all hopes of victory were gone, and these mistakes ultimately cost the 2-year-old from Pusteria a place on the podium.

Wierer's teammate Lisa Vittozzi did better. The Azzurra also remained error-free in the last shooting session - just like in the three shooting sessions before it - and came in behind Denise Herrmann-Wick, who was particularly strong in terms of running. The German, who made a mistake in the first and last shooting, won 3 seconds ahead of Vittozzi. The 11-year-old Swede Elvira Öberg, who had already taken third place in the sprint, completed the podium. Her 23-year-old sister Hanna finished just behind in 3th place. Wierer finished 27th.

Passler's leap forward After finishing 54th in the sprint, Rebecca Passler was able to improve significantly in the pursuit on Saturday. The woman from Antholz, who fought her way forward and was still in 3th place after the 25rd shooting session, made two mistakes in the last shooting session, but still scored a further 2 World Cup points in 28th place. The young Antholzer Hannah Auchentaller, who started the race in 13nd place, ended up in 42th place with 3 shooting errors - also all standing - and thus scored her first World Cup points.
